My name is Justin Slade. I am a husband to Amy and father of a son (Dylan) and 2 step daughters (Haley and Mallory).
I was born and raised in South Africa and came to the United States in 1992 on athletic (swimming) scholarship. I graduated from ASU in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and 1999 with a Master of Science in Sport & Exercise Psychology.
I have taught and coached swimming for the past 17 years. My experience as a competitive swim coach and traditional lessons instructor and the desire to impact swimmers at a younger and younger age lead me eventually to ISR. Observing infants as young as 6 months learning to roll and float was amazing to me and I still get a thrill every time I see one of those faces roll back and float!
I decided to become an ISR instructor as it is without question the most theoretically sound and practically effective swimming program of any level or type that I have seen. The training it takes to become an instructor is rigorous and challenging but the rewards of seeing a student successfully navigating an aquatic situation is truly amazing.
Thank you for considering ISR and I trust you will enjoy the experience as much as I do!
